Chrome for Android; less typing

In Chrome for Android, type chrome://flags into the search bar and scroll down to “Answers in Suggest." Less typing/swiping/whatever. (It's a long list.) Read the full from article from Gigaom here. Brilliant!

Last of the Sunlight

From a few days ago, no filters, nothing other than cropping and resizing.
Texas can be really beautiful when you look up at sunset.

No more wildflowers. Almost...

All the wildflowers have gone except one, but what's left behind us nice, too.

Hangouts vs. Email

I get that it's very cool to be able to call over wifi rather then burning minutes, and that's why I'm giving Hangouts a third (yes, a third) try.
But an app that works just like SMS, and integrates SMS into it's functionality, plus some proprietary layer that only allows you to access those who have also installed the app?
No thanks. If I have to communicate using text, I'm sticking with email until they kill the idea. It's anywhere, everywhere, and platform agnostic. Google has done a lot of amazing things, and will most likely continue to do them, but I'm not giving up something that I know works if the alternative isn't going to cut it.

Crouton is a script designed to install a Linux environment on your ChromeOS device.
This was one of the first things I put onto my old Samsung Chromebook, and continue using on my new Acer. It's always considered a Beta; Google once ran over my Linux install with an update, there are weird mount/unmount drive warnings when the USB flash-drive never leaves the socket, etc.
But the reason I use it is simple; Linux has a selection of File Managers, as well as a fully functional command-line interface. ChromeOS has made improvements, but I’ve been spoiled over the years. Once you know there’s a better tool for the job, you use it.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way!

Okay, I'm going to vent about work for a few minutes, and then I'll forget that I've ever posted this. For almost every problem at work...
  • Lead: they don't pay me enough to lead, here, nor was that why I was hired.
  • Follow: if the leadership ain't there, no to that one as well. Thus...
  • Get The Hell Out Of My Way! I'll do it, just get the hell out of my way and quit bitching about why you're incapable or unable to do it.

Good luck, kids...

Had a customer get offended when I corrected her yesterday.
“I’m a Teacher, and you never correct a customer that way…”
Good luck with her, kids, and parents? You’re paying her salary.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Climate Change Debate (HBO)

My new hobby; Confusing the Hell out of Instagram Users.

We all know what Instagram is: a place for cute girls to share selfies, and not a whole lot more. It's a magical place where the world's best photos, taken with the best quality, can be shrunk down to a 640 x 640 snapshot. Every once in a while, it's fun to throw something else into the mix. It'll confuse the hell out of them!
