The Toshiba is DEAD!

My old Toshiba laptop; 17 inches, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard-drive is dead.
Yeah, sure, it was closing in on five years old, had run Windows 7, 8, 8.1 Preview, and countless flavors of Linux, from Bodhi to Xubuntu, just bit the dust.
No tears were shed as I yanked the hard-drive and hooked it to to a SATA to USB adapter, hoping to glean a few more megabytes of data since the last back-up, but no. No, the drive is dead.
So, I'm left with an Android phone, and Android tablet, an Acer C720 Chromebook, and the HP Stream 13 that keeps on switching from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Technical Preview...
But I guess it's time to put up or shut up as far as having lower-powered hardware being the thing that you can get by with...
This means that I'm going to be using external hard-drives as primary storage, because there's going to be so little I can use on the handful of gigabytes available on the laptops. Both my Android devices are pretty light on storage space, but transferring a…
