Keep going...

If it were easy, anyone could do it.
Keep going...

Only five hours of battery life left?!

I used my Acer C720 Chromebook to download the 4GB Windows 10 Technical Preview today.
Yes, I know you appreciate the irony, too.
I began the download at 1330 when I left for work, with the battery at about 90%. Just got home at 2030, and the battery is at 53%.
That's just so damn cool! Oh, but there's only five hours of battery life left...

How could I not?

Yojimbo time!

Must take time to appreciate the classics...
And what better way than watching the coolest ronin ever?

You just know that last one is getting set as my desktop wallpaper...

What's the right device?

I'm laughing to myself a bit listening to the Android Central podcast.
Here are four guys who get new Android phones every two weeks, and they can't seem to find the perfect one any more than I can.
Same thing for the crowd at TWiT.
But I'm happy with the choice I made, and it cost me a hell of a lot less than any of the other options.

Windows 93

Funniest website I've seen in a long time.
And, yes, it's running in Chrome on my Android phone.
Pretty damn impressive.

Using Auto Backup on G+

One of the better features of Google+ is their automatic backup of pictures from your phone.
I keep mine set to it's maximum resolution, and when I get into the range of a WiFi network, photos are automatically uploaded and reduced in size.
It saves time, and the original files are still there if you need to edit them farther.

The Toshiba is DEAD!

My old Toshiba laptop; 17 inches, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard-drive is dead.
Yeah, sure, it was closing in on five years old, had run Windows 7, 8, 8.1 Preview, and countless flavors of Linux, from Bodhi to Xubuntu, just bit the dust.
No tears were shed as I yanked the hard-drive and hooked it to to a SATA to USB adapter, hoping to glean a few more megabytes of data since the last back-up, but no. No, the drive is dead.
So, I'm left with an Android phone, and Android tablet, an Acer C720 Chromebook, and the HP Stream 13 that keeps on switching from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Technical Preview...
But I guess it's time to put up or shut up as far as having lower-powered hardware being the thing that you can get by with...
This means that I'm going to be using external hard-drives as primary storage, because there's going to be so little I can use on the handful of gigabytes available on the laptops. Both my Android devices are pretty light on storage space, but transferring a movie or two via AirDroid has worked okay in the past.
The one thing that makes me nervous is the stability of a Microsoft product. Even when I know I can fix it. Problem is that the hardware on the HP Stream has not been playing nice with the Linux distro's I've tried.
Wanna bet I'll be using the Chromebook the most?

Test; posting to Blogger from Gmail

Hadn't really tried this before, but including an attachment to email and some text gets the above result...
Just kind of neat.

Only four hours of battery-life left!

Oh, NO! Only four hours of battery-life left!
Wait... what? That's an eternity for cell-phone use!
A actually began laughing when I saw this alert.
