That's some serious attitude from a little girl...

Voice dictation

Why would it just stop at a phone?
You can use it anywhere Google is, this last taken from my Chromebook screenshot.
Just try it.
You'll like it...

Best iPhone Ad Ever - LastWeekTonight (#TBT)

The new and improved Apple iPhone X

The new and improved Apple iPhone X, starting at $999.99 - what a bargain!
It's got... stuff - magical stuff - in it, that makes it courageous, revolutionary, and magical!
Now, to be fair, they've been saying that the tenth anniversary of the iPhone was going to be something above and beyond, but for the same price that I paid for my last BLU phone?

And yes, there are some ridiculously overpriced Android phones out there, as well (looking at you Samsung), and I'm not buying their stuff either.
The bottom line is; you're going to have a really hard time convincing me that just because a phone costs 80% more than mine, it's 80% better!

Which I've got going for me. 😎

I wondered why that was no longer a thing...

Even more ASUS!

So, someone needs a phone more than I did, so my BLU Energy XL went to a worthy cause.
But I still need a phone, and my old Zenfone2 wasn't going to cut it for long.
So, I went out looking, and her I found the ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom.
It's black. Of course, I got black...
First, and foremost; 5000mAh battery!
Yeah, I know, you don't need this. I don't really need it, either, but as a guy who had to carry around an external power bank to keep a 3000mAh battery going throughout the day, I'm not doing that again. I rather have it stored inside the phone where it belongs.

A really nice camera. Did a four hour photo-walk through downtown Fort Worth, so you be the judge. Low-light still isn't great, but it's not that big a deal for me.

Slapped a microSD card into it, just in case, and memory is no problem.

Shipped with 6.1 and got an over the air update to 7.0 after a week!

So, yeah. Loving this phone!

BLU's camera app has some cool tricks.

BLU has some good camera functions that you might like, as I've mentioned before.
Instead of making a camera that tried to "wow" photographers (which doesn't even happen amongst the iPeople - not in real life, anyway),  the Vivo 8 has added OCR and edge detection tricks for taking photos of business cards, forms, or translating text from one language to another.
This isn't anything you can't get elsewhere by installing Google's Keep, Photo Scan, or Translate, but it's nice to see BLU taking the extra step of adding some functionality...

The Best Interview In The History Of Television [Robin Williams]

It's pretty damn good...

More BLU in my life

So, I've come to the conclusion that I don't want a tablet.
I still want a secondary screen that I can interact with while watching Netflix, Youtube, whatever...
It also needs to be small and light enough that I can read it in bed without having to injure myself if it falls out of my hand - because it's happened before (with the Nexus7), and it'll happen again.
So, some sort of mini-tablet.
Also known as a smartphone, without cell service.

Reading an article about the BLU Vivo 8 going for $199.00 on Amazon, I decided, "yes. I think I'll have that..." It won't be here until 20170906, but the specs and the price make it look promising.
Hello, BLU. My old/new friend.
Plus, it's still a phone. If anything happens to my ASUS Zenfone3 Zoom, I've already got a backup that can be used with a quick walk down to the closest T-Mobile store (for a different SIM card).

So, here's something...
This is a good phone. I mean, it's a really good phone!
There's nothing "wrong" about this phone, at all.
Okay, the battery could be 1000mAh stronger, but 4000mAh is pretty damn good. The camera isn't the best, but BLU is making up for the low-light with tricks that work with OCR when you take a shot of a business card or text, detecting borders on a printed page, etc. Neat stuff.
For $200.00? That's insane.
